Fat-loss is easier than the industry makes it out to be

to increase consumerism, marketers have created fads (that have also served the economy, hence have been allowed by governments), most of which don't do squat for you fat regulation.
an average adult eats around 2000 calories in a day. a deficit of 3500 calories is necessary to lose a pound of fat. on the other hand, you need to eat 3500 calories in surplus to gain a pound of fat. this is EXACTLY why you see posts about why you have not gained weight overnight, which is usually owed to bloating due to excess of salt, water retention, poor sleep and such.
there is a very simple way to calculate the required calories for the day. just multiply your weight (in pounds) by 10 or 12. for example, if i weigh 125 lbs (57 kgs), i will eat between 1250-1500 calories per day. (alternatively, there are several website that tell you how many calories you should eat based on your weight, goals and activity levels).
other things that contribute to fat loss are your activity levels, protein intake and eating whole foods. i will cover these more broadly in different posts, but i am writing this to let you know that those weight loss teas, pills and waist trainers DO NOT HELP.
remember, fat loss is a long term goal. it may take longer than you expect, but will stay with you also longer. you may see some weight fluctuations due to bs fads, but caloric deficit, protein intake and weight lifting are what really matter.
